Social Media Addiction and Relationships

In the era of smartphones, such as iPods and Samsung Galaxies, a significant amount of social media is accessed through phones. It is increasingly common to use phones during free time and also during time spent with friends. It is so easy to reach for your phone and quickly check Facebook or Twitter, but we often do not realize how this behavior affects others around us. This video does a great job of demonstrating how using social media in public isolates us from our friends and causes us to not fully experience important moments.

This video creates a lot of food for thought. How would your life be different if you used social media less when you were with your friends? How many conversations have you only half-participated in due to checking Facebook? How many life events have you not fully experiened because you were too busy updating your Twitter feed?

We challenge you to try to use social media less while with your family and friends. While this may seem difficult at first, we believe that it will change your life and your relationships for the better!
